I think it's important for ppl to differentiate between fringe science and (cargo) cult science. Fringe science is usually just bizarre and most likely wrong. Whereas (cargo) cult science are simply impossible without the existing of a magically space daddy or any ***** the cult believe in plus they usually sound like a skipping CD..

I'm gonna go with everyone and say you need to check out torchlight. It's so good it's almost depressing, because all I wish is that it had multiplayer support, otherwise it'd be amazing. I love the graphics, and the game plays on older systems. If D3 has the same style of game play, hey Blizzard the pet idea was great... take note, I'm going to accept that I am just not meant to have a social life, or ever get laid again.

I wish people would stop complaining so much about gas prices. Let's say you get 25mpg on average and drive 15,000 miles a year, if gas goes up a dollar, you're spending a whole $600 extra on gas to fill up your $15,000 car, OH NO! But then people have no problem buying coffee every morning, which even at a conservative estimate of $3 a cup, which would maybe get you just plain coffee, you're spending over $1000/year.You wanna complain about the way oil companies do business, sure whatever, but gas prices aren't that big of a deal, and a lot of other countries are a lot worse off than we are.

The sort of low-temperature combustion of military waste in burn pits that's going on here can easily create all sorts of really, really, really nasty stuff in the smoke coming off of it. Any time something with carbon and chlorine and and hydrogen gets burnt, the molecules get rearranged. Unfortunately, some of them get arranged into dioxins. Dioxins are not fun stuff at all.But what can one do? The trash needs to be disposed of. Having some sort of incinerator that goes with a unit might make sense, even for now, an expedient sheet-metal contraption that has some sort of secondary air induction (e.g. a solar powered blower) to burn off the evolved volatiles and a stack height of 20 feet or so - or something like that - would be better than nothing. One could probably rig it up using scrap metal and some welding in any sort of encampment that's going to last more than a few days. Wouldn't cost much either.Hopefully they'll find something, because the sort of junk that comes off burning chlorinated plastics is not what our soldiers should be breathing. |
